Wow have not been updating this blog as much as I should, my photo fb, www.fb.com/jimmyhickeyphotography sorta took over my blog style photo stuff, either way I feel my Burning Man trip is deserving of this.
Had such a blast at this event, good people, too much stuff to shoot. Fun time overall. Here is a brief overview of what I shot. Have some more wedding photos I will post in the wedding forum tomorrow.

Senior Portrait Season

Finally the winter is somewhat coming to a close, and my senior portrait clients are trickling back. Really excited to get back into a routine of shooting stuff haha. Finally got my condo situation in Portland figured out and I should be moving in within the next few weeks.

Also just had my photography services listed on Thumb Tack . Lots of stuff in the works which somewhat explains my lack of photos lately. Here's a few recents though

And saw this spot while driving with my girlfriend from Lincoln City Oregon to Long Beach Washington. So many nice spots on that drive, but this one we couldn't pass up.

Went up to "The Green Spot" in White Salmon Washington with my girlfriend and her friends. It looks out over Hood River Oregon, the Columbia River and on a clear day you have a great view of Mt. Hood. Either way we went out there with some masks and wanted to create some photographs.

These guys shredddd and are still in high school, taking online classes and what not. Small Town Rivals- Documentary photo project

I was in Sequim the other day shooting Ryan and Jacks senior portraits, on top of just enjoying the awesome city of Sequim when I was asked if I wanted to cover their high schools football match against the close neighboring city of Port Angelas. At first I didn't really want to. After shooting college football this season and already having a packed schedule, I didn't think much of shooting a 'boring' high school football game. Then after some thought and hearing them discuss how big the rivalry is between these two cities I realized how I could potentially create a strong photo series capturing this intensity. After a call to a few friends who happen to be on the team I was given full access to create this project. I showed up 20 minutes before the game with 3 camera bodies attached to my shoulders and a audio recorder....more than when I shoot NCAA...or anything for that matter.
I had a difficult time balancing the audio with the photography but found a good happy medium. Only real issue was I lost half of the recorded audio...even though it was backed up. So I had to work with what I was given and this is what I created. Please let me know what you think! I hope to continue to make more of these style of projects so I want to hear what they could improve on. Next set will have more ambient action noise, as well as I will not lose the important coach speeches during half time hahaha ah man I love being a documentary sports photographer!

I apologize...again...for the lack of updates lately, I appreciate my frequent and loyal visitors to my blog and site and will have some more current content over the next few weeks. Things have just been hectic these last few weeks, trying to move into a place in Portland, mixed with a weird amount of traveling, blogging just has not been on my to do list. Either way that shall stop soon and I'll be back in the swing of things in no time!

This was Emily's second set of seniors, and since we already had the security of the images from our first set we decided to go out there and just have fun shooting together. This is what we created.

OSU vs ASU NCAA Football

OSU Vs. ASU game, finally getting used to transmitting the images live from the event. Either way Reiser stadium was a challenge shoot at, only one line for photographers, videographers and everyone else with field access. The sun made the first three quarters or so pretty difficult as well. Have of the field in dark shade, half the field in harsh sunlight made metering a pain. Mix that with the clustered field access onlookers and the abundance of OSU cheerleaders made for really crowded sidelines and tough shooting conditions. Either way it was a challenge shooting this set but I enjoyed it! Shooting Vegas in a few days, Orlando in a few weeks!

Really had a blast shooting this set of seniors for Emily. I feel like together we produced a really strong set of seniors. I had a tough time toning down and choosing my favorite so I decided to post all the ones I love.

Emily wanted some shots in the cemetery, so we shot these. We were very respectful and what not to the location and quietly took our photos and left. Also we thanked everyone for letting us use their burial grounds as a photo location

Well I am horrible at updating this....been just too busy to think about blogging, which is funny because I am still on a computer as much as ever doing my photo thing, just I can never get myself to want to blog...anyways here is what I have been up to since...errr returning home from California I guess haha. This won't be too heavy of an image dump, I'll have a few ones that expand on this post at a later date.
I'll be shooting the University of Washington and Oregon State University football games this season (still waiting on my season credentials from UO) so stay tuned for that, here are a few shots from last weekends game against Syracuse.

Moving on...
The kittens pictured were just discovered. They had spent the previous month or two of their lives in the darkness of the bat infested attic of a barn. This is literally their first 20 minutes of experiencing the world outside of their small, sheltered dark attic.

Ed has lived on a ranch his entire life. You can tell by just looking at him he has seen some stuff in his day. His hands are rugged and huge, a testimony to the many brawls he has been in and broken fingers he has gone through. Ed remembers his dads form of population control on the ranch and the unlucky cats that met the wrath of his father....Ed's reaction to these newly found kittens is quite remarkable...

One of the only photos I took in South Carolina haha it was nice just vacationing there and not having to worry about taking photos. First time spending a week just relaxing with friends and family in almost a year.

Young Parents Project

After working on this project for the past few months I am finally ready to put it up on my site. It's been a blast shooting these young parents and I am only just beginning. I've learned a lot through this project, it really opened my eyes to how big of a commitment having a kid really is. I'd like to thank everyone who has participated in this project thus far you guys were a pleasure to work with and I am excited to continue with this project.

The purpose of my photo project is to create a series of wholesome images that promote family. Simple photographs of young couples and families being happy. People who have kids at a young age have enough negative light shed on them from the media public opinion. The world already knows that having a baby is tough, and having a baby at a young age is even tougher. A photo series that represents something the Western world is already aware of is not going to turn any heads or stand out. However a series of images that sheds a positive light on these young, somewhat looked down upon, families shows people something they might not be aware of. The fact that even though these parents had a child at a young age, they are still happy healthy and surrounded by love.

Did a shoot for Metal Mulisha in Seattle. By far the largest production I've ever handled, I'm amazed at how smooth it all went down. Setting up two huge ramps in the middle of a public park was a pretty complex ordeal. Got some pretty radical shots that at Metal Mulisha's request I can't share the images or video for a while, but here is a teaser as well as some random shots from the day

Midway through the first night of shooting I had a red alert...my pants ripped. At this big, national companies formal dinner, my pants ripped. Being the quick thinking young buck I am I found some duct tape and patched my pants up and continued shooting until I was able to go back to my car and throw on a change of pants...some how I had 2 pairs of formal pants in my car:) Always prepared haha

Back from Port Townsend

Had an exciting week out in Port Townsend with my classmates, here are some of the shots from my week spent out there. The last half of the week I spent assisting, but was still able to get a few shots of my adventures out there.
We'll start with a little bit of lambo action

Cruised up to Hurricane Ridge and got some shots with the crew I was assisting, here is a shot of Greg holding the beast Mamiya with some pretty awesome scenery going on behind him

Hit up the skatepark with my friends from Sequim, its amazing how many nice concrete parks there are out in these random Washington Towns. Every single town seems to have a park, and they for the most part are pretty well built.

Did some location scouting and bumped into another squad of students, grabbed a quick shot of Judd outside of the motel they were shooting at

Few minutes later I drove back to a spot that caught my eye earlier in the day...when I drove in to the actual neighborhood I was shocked to find some downed powerlines and what seemed to be abandoned houses....

Somewhere a long the way we ate at a Mexican restaurant called "Quick and Casual" to our surprise, it was neither of the above...it was classy and slow...regardless I took this shot of Chris, the lighting was nice in there so why not share it?

Did lots of driving one of the days with a good crew!

Went on another random adventure out to a surfing spot past Port Angelas, to get to one of the locations we had to navigate over a little stream of water...

...that location was short lived because we got kicked off of it due to it being a private beach...not getting any shots, and for sure not worth the equipment risk traveling over the water. Ah well

Ended up finding a cooler location anyways,

Mid Break update!

Sorry for the lack up updating, I've been up to my eyeballs in work trying to get as much done as possible over my Spring Break. I recently was in Phoenix for the PSP Phoenix open and while hanging out with the Photomob, we made this video, staring yours truly! Look at that awesome form! haha paintball photographers know how to get downnn

After Phoenix the new Pbrack Intern J Money and I drove back to Seattle. On the way back I had some pretty cool photo opportunities, I'll share them with the next blog post when I drop my entire Spring Break images for my projects as well as a few other releases. The wall was full to the brim of famous people who have eaten there...saw some pretty radical images, one of Adam Sandler in particular caught my eye.

After leaving Pinks we did some adventuring around the area. J money had never been to California before, so he had some fun site seeing and doing all the standard stuff, including getting his photo taken with a rap artist trying to promote himself on the street...

K now time to share some recent photos from the past 2 weeks

Here is a video I made from a recent studio assignment. We basically had to shoot a Hurrell inspired image(again) this time with building a entire scene out of whatever we choose but it had to be in the studio. My original plans fell through so I had to settle for what I could find in the school...

Over the last few weeks I've been working on a Carhartt catalog with a graphic designer and publishing arts student (well just the graphic designer, the pub arts guy is sorta MIA for the last few weeks...) none the less, its been a blast shooting that since wherever Carhartt clothes are being worn, some sort of cool photographic opportunity is presented. haha! So basically I've just been building up a set of random images of people wearing Carhartts for the catalog design. Here are a few of my favorites...

And gonna throw in some romantic running horses jus cus this post is filled with too much already, why not push it to the limit?

Went up to Stanwood Washington to work on the slow completion of my "Kids of Suburbia" project. Still need to write my artist statement for this project, I should have it up in the near future...aiming for completion before summer starts. I'm really excited about this project and excited to finish it up.

No video, but here's a shot of one of the set ups, did a mix of ambient and lit shots...

Planning on using this one as the opening image with the artist statement...I think...maybe it should be a more simple image...hrmmm

Same day I shot the Sanwood Fire Departments B shift while they were on duty. Great group of guys, really had a blast shooting this set. These were all lit with 2 strobes, 1 camera right lighting the firefighters, the other wayyyy camera left, lighting the front. You can see a few cables coming from the trucks generator...those are powering my strobes since my Vegabond power packs didn't have the juice to run the amount of shots I needed @ full power after a full day of shooting.
Biggest challenge of the shoot was they wanted a shot of the truck with the ladder fully extended...with them in it....that meant I needed to somehow light my subjects on the ground as well as capture the top of the ladder 100+feet away from me in the air...shot at ISO 1600 with a half second exposure...Not the strongest of images, but its the best I could deliver with their request, and they were happy with it.

After I got the shot they wanted out of the way, I started getting some more standard yet powerful portraits of the crew. Same lighting set up and settings as before, this time I had the spotlight in the background facing the camera, somewhat separating the crew from the BG as well as adding that cool hint of flare.

After that the crew all wanted individual portraits of themselves in their gear. I moved the light in the background to illuminate the "stanwood" lettering on the ladder.

After a while they started to feel comfortable in front of the camera, so I had them pose for this final group shot

And I decided to jump in for a shot...because honestly how often do I get the oppertunity to stand in front of firetruck for a cool portrait?

Hrmm so thats what I've been up to over the past two weeks or so, still have a lot of stuff in the works and in the process of uploading a video of my camera bag and refrigerator...but I need to shave it down a few minutes.

Behind the scenes video- Justin Homan of Metal Mulisha

Here is a video from my trip out to Justin Homans house for a day of photos.

My main shot I wanted to achieve was a shot where the camera was mounted on his bike. After brainstorming and preplanning for a solid week prior to the shoot, I was confident I would be able to get a strong shot from his bike with no damage done to my gear(or the rented lens...) and more importantly not do anything to put Justin in a dangerous situation.

The camera itself was mounted to the handlebars of his bike. At first it was too close to his body and he would actually hit it with his chest prior to take off. After discovering that we had to reverse the entire set up which made the mount it a few inches further from him. I had the camera mounted to my superclamp as well as the pivot head off of a monopod. This system worked, but kept getting loose whenever he would have anything other than a buttery soft landing. It took numerous trips and an abundance of gaffers tape to keep the camera in a position where it wouldn't move, but eventually it all worked out.

I was also careful to tape all of the switches on the camera into their desired position. That way we wouldn't have any unwanted setting changes or anything like that...made viewing the images or changing the settings a bit more of a task when desired though.

Before he hit the jump with the camera, we wanted to make sure we were getting a wide enough field of view to capture his entire body...

I knew from reading about others who have done similar shots that the vibrations of the bike led to blur or camera shake in their images, so I was shooting at a high ISO to allow me to shoot at a faster shutter speed. These were shot at F8 1/2000th ISO 1000 on a Canon 5D with Canon 15 2.8 fisheye.

We tried a few different tricks but they just weren't exactly what we were going for.

Here is my favorite image from the on bike mounted shots- We made the decision that clear goggles would be best for this shot so we could see the intensity in his eyes.

Moving on to the rest of the shoot, I wanted to do some sequences of him

For the lit shots, I was using 2 Elinchrome Ranger power packs and heads on full power. Here is a test shot-

When I had both heads on the same side as each other(one by the take off, one by the landing) I was not too impressed with the lighting. It looked nice, he popped fairly well in my oppinion from the background, but just didn't have anything that really made the shot stand out.

So I decided to move the head near the take off to the opposite side, so I would get it in the shot pointed towards me.

All in all it was a really fun day, got some cool photos and still have a few other things in the works. Always a blast shooting FMX, big thanks to Justin for his willingness to create some awesome images, Meatwad and Intern Zach for assisting, and the little kids on the 50's not crashing into any of my gear:)

Just for the sake of updating the blog, here are my digital proofs of my Hurrell style portrait assignment...It was tough as hell for me to mimic Hurrells style, but I feel I did an alright job with it. Next week we have to make a complete set in studio...again Hurrell style

Second look at the Pbrack warehouse and my studio!

Just finished this video of the warehouse after working pretty much all night on it. Still got a ways to go, but the showroom is looking snazzy. Gonna throw up some larger 20x30 prints in the near future to really make the room pop. Big thanks to the Steez for the graffiti on the ceiling. Now heading out to Chipotle, then up to Whistler to catch the Olympics! Stay tuned for the continuation on the "Kids of Suburbia" project as well as some other big news:)

Just after dosing off tonight I was awoken by the annoying ringtone of my phone. With my eyes barely open, I reached out and discovered it was my friend and fellow photographer, Sergio Mottola (website link to the right). I answered the phone somewhat confused, not really knowing what to expect. "duuude I just got out of a speech by Chase Jarvis it was freaking insane" From there he proceeded to tell me about his experiences at the speech. And honestly, it was one of the most inspiring 13 minute conversations of my life. My hunger to create visually appealing imagery is stronger than ever. I am determined to make it to the top and be successful. I'm going to school, trying to soak up as much photographic knowledge as I can, learning something new every day and trying my best to make it big. I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me on my path thus far. From my teachers, family, other photographer friends, online friends (ST: P, FM and POTN), classmates, models, blog readers, friends unaffiliated with photography, my photographic influences and everyone else who has made a positive impact on my life. If I were to name names the list would go on for pages. I just wanted to let you all know that I am really grateful for all of your support and help over the years. I am determined to be successful, and will do what ever it takes to make it to the top. So....that's pretty much it, I'm gonna get some sleep. Night all.

Matthew Gilbertson and I went out to Pasco Washington to cover the WHR Arenacross event as well as cover Justin Homan of Metal Mulisha and the young and hungry Rich Kearns. Had a blast with this set and am excited for covering them in the future. Still trying to learn the process of what makes a video like this interesting, they will be improving over time! Canon 1D Mark IV Autofocus Test

Here's another test with the Canon 1D Mark IV this time just testing the auto focusing capabilities in real world situations. No noise reduction turned on, Adobe RGB color space, standard picture style. ISO 1600 and 6400, noise seems a lot worse due to the rain. Andrew Fredrickson and I decided to make a video comparing the entire line of Canon 1D cameras, that tested the cameras in real life situations. We spent a lot of time and put a lot of effort into this video, comments would be greatly appreciated!

Field testing the entire Canon 1D line using real life situations. Tests include image quality, frame rate, ISO handling and of course, the focusing. Video by Jimmy Hickey and Andrew Fredrickson

A while back in November I was assigned to shoot one third of the holiday gift guide for PaintballX3 magazine. I met up with another photographer and friend Matthew Gilbertson and started planning for the shoot. Looking at the random amount of paintball gear and apparel that had been sent to us for the shoot, we decided to have the shoot based around a Christmas party that just gets way too out of hand. We got our friends together and being all college students with nothing but small dorms and apartments to work with, we were able to find an abandoned laundry facility that was owned by a family friend. That location was full of challenges including no inside lighting, no furniture and creepy onlookers outside, but we were able to work around them and get the shoot up and running. Looking back on it I feel we would have done things a bit differently if done now, however this shoot was a major learning experience for both of us, and I feel we did the best we could at the time and fulfilled the magazines requirements. The editor was pleased with the images as well. This was one of my first full sets of images that was published, so I am really excited about this opportunity:)

Hey everyone! Been up to my eyeballs in hanging with friends I haven't seen since summer, getting the flu, and taking radical photos:) I am in the process of making a video of the last few shoots I have been doing that should be pretty interesting. Some of my work in the December issue of X3 from Vegas...still waiting on getting my copy of the gift guide which has a lot of photos I have been anxious to post here...some how the editor John through in a photo I took of Sergio Mottola...Sergio and I were somehow put on the same flight to Las Vegas...even though he was flying to take photos at a wedding, and I was flying to take photos at a paintball event. We were hanging out a few days before this trip and neither of us knew of the others Vegas plans. Weird coincidence eh?

It's December already?

Weird. I've been living in Seattle for the last few months going to photo school at SCCA and time has flown by insanely fast. Our first quarter is nearly over, I've met loads of new people and I am slowly adapted to living alone (getting the will power to do laundry is still tough for me) I've still been traveling and learning a bunch, here's a few recent things.
I went up to our friendly neighbors in Vancouver Canada with the Pbrack crew to play and take photos at the Brawl For it All. We won division 1 playing with Ambush Army, and I got some survivable photos considering how dark the arena was. Nothing special, but it'll do. Keep your eyes peeled for a large amount of my work in the next issue (both print and online) from PaintballX3 magazine;)

On a scary note...Steezy G flew up from Vegas to play this event...while he and a couple other Rackers were out drinking in downtown Surrey, he was unfortunate enough to be involved with some standard Vancouver B.C. police brutality. He survived with only minor bruises, baton marks and pepper spray to the face. This all happened while me and the rest of the Rack crew slept. I think we made a good decision staying in;)

My buddy Matthew of www.matthewgilbertson.com came up for the trip to Canada. Being at a paintball event, he admitted to me he had never been shot by a paintball. So he requested I shot him in the hand....

They called me Evil Knievel on the webcast...tiger stripe beard....

Ohhh yeahhh school assignments! Black on black, one light, six mirrors=

4x5 selective focus assignment, only had to frames to get it correct. I need to get a video up of my next 4x5 assignment to show everyone who is not familiar with the process how tedious it is. I have nothing but respect for photographers who used only 4x5s and mastered the craft. In regard to this image, the lens flare behind the ball is somewhat annoying, however I do like how it is creating a triangle leading towards his hand. Also considering this shot was using only ambient lighting, I'm happy with the results.

I miss my MX buddies

Got back from the "Brawl for it All" in Vancouver Canada. Second paintball tournament in a row that we've won:) Won a trip to the Canadian Paintball Nationals in Calgary as well as a trip to Huntington beach for the NPPL event...too bad I was already going to both to cover the for Paintballx3 magazine. Oh which reminds me, check out www.paintballx3.com for their new online magazine, the print edition should be out soon with a fair amount of my work in it:)

Ahh stressing times with school and work. I've spent 3 of the last 4 days at school doing 13 hour days without leaving school working on photo assignments. While browsing through some old galleries I came across this album...Two summers ago I spent the majority of my days hanging out with my friends from Longview who all race motocross. I miss showing up to their house, grilling a couple of hot dogs, screwing around on random vehicles, having goofy haircuts, going for a swim then going out to take some photos at one of the many private and public tracks around our town then going back home and chilling around the campfire, only to wake up the next day and do it again. Here are some photos from two summers ago that sort of represent that feel I am talking about. Oldies but goodies!

Veterans Day

Alright...so I'm like 2 hours and 24 minutes too late. None the less, I wanted to wish everyone a happy Veterans Day and thank everyone for their service to our country. I'd also give a shout out to my good Friend Sergeant Nick Collins who is currently on his second tour of duty in Iraq. Stay safe, to all of our military men and women! For my Boy Scout Eagle project, I interviewed 15 WWII Veterans about their experiences in 'The War' and really learned a great deal of knowledge and heard some amazing stories. I wanted to document these WWII Veterans' stories before they became another American flag in the newspaper obituaries. As a result of this, 15 veterans got their stories out to their friends, family, community and their country. If you are interested in interviewing a friend or loved one about their military experience, I would strongly suggest looking into the Veterans History Project, http://www.loc.gov/vets/ .

Busy weekend...six seniors down in the Portland area, so I decided to take a break from editing those and update this with some random class work.

Back from Sin City!

I just got back from the USPL event in Vegas shooting for PaintballX3 Magazine. I randomly ran into my friend and fellow photographer Sergio Mottola at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and he was also heading to Vegas and was on the same flight as me. However he was there to shoot a wedding*Yawnnnn* Anyways, he took this shot of me in exchange for borrowing a lens for the weekend-

The event was outside of the Riviera Hotel and had a huge parking garage towering over the venue. Before I took my first photo, I decided I wanted to get a night shot of the venue and capture the lit fields, as well as the "city of lights" in the background....first attempt I climbed up the wrong parking garage. Second attempt, I got this:

This was my first time using a remote camera as well. Fired via Pocket Wizard, I placed both the camera and the PW in a bag and slid them under a bunker. I'm happy with the results, and anxious to play around with remote cameras in the future:)

Lots of magazine stuff in the works, as well as some school related stuff. Seattle's going well, I have a nice little routine going on which is a nice change of pace from the hectic last four months. Here's a shot of me working the beastly 4x5-

Atlanta, Canada and school

Ahh its been a busy last few weeks. I traveled to Atlanta with the Pbrack Crew for the 2009 Paintball Expo. Made some valuable contacts and had a fun time with the other guys in the industry. Here's a photo of our booth in Atlanta:

Blink 182!!!

Had a blast shooting the blink 182 concert this week in Portland. Off to Atlanta on Monday for the 2009 Paintball Expo, then the following week I start the Commercial Photography program at Seattle Central. The following week I am shooting the Paintball World Cup in Florida, then the week after that I am shooting the USPL final event in Vegas. Still need a car...and a place to live in Seattle:/ Busy stuff coming up:)

From the Winter Rack Catalog shoot/camping trip. The beach was a secluded beach you had to slide down ropes to get down to it, then walk half a mile through slippery rocls. Not many people know about it, and its difficult to get to, but well worth the trip:)

Really fun shoot. She was a pleasure to work with and had some enjoyable outfits(all dresses) and location requests. She wanted a sort of nature themed shoot and was barefoot(at her request) for the entire shoot:)

Had a blast shooting this event. Great venue, great riders, just a all around good time. Wish I didn't miss Skateboard Street though:/ Lens wise, I was stuck with only my 50L and 300, no mid ranged lenses, so I had a challenge covering some of the events. And with those lens options, I could either shoot super tight, or fairly wide, so that is the reason for my lack of elevation-showing shots. Also, I missed shooting the famous FM poster and pro BMX vert rider, Chady Kagy:( But other than that, everything went great and I'm happy with the results:)

Just starting up the newest Senior campaign for 2010. Hoping to quadruple the amount of seniors I had last year. I'll be moving up to Seattle in September, so hopefully I will be able to be shooting seniors up there as well as down here in the Vancouver/Portland/Longview area.
Other then that, I've been up to my eyeballs in random trips and shooting events. Wake Jam was last weekend, Dew Tour is this coming up weekend.

Ahhh what a weekend. We drove down to the USPL event 2 held in Corona California...the event itself was fairly small, so we left after one day of shooting and headed to Vegas:) From there we went back to California and visited by friend and fellow photographer, Joshua Meador ( www.joshuameador.com )
Here's my work from the event, I had fun trying to work the field for some new angles...being out there with 20+other photographers all going for the same stuff was a challenge, but trying to shoot something different was enjoyable.

Got some new magazine stuff in the works:)

Just spent the last two days rafting the Dachutes river in Eastern Oregon. Getting ready to head to Corona California for the USPL tournament, or stay in Vancouver and cover the Washougal MX nationals and the Wake Jam. No new photos really, so here's a picture of Baby Hayden.

What an adventure Japan with the Rack crew was. Traveled all over the place, caused some shenanigans and we missed our flight and almost had to take a barge from Yokohama to Seattle. But everything worked out okay. Didn't take too many photos, just of us in different locations. Travel photography is not really my cup of tea...wish I would have taken maybe a few more shots of the city and the outskirts though. Oh well.

So I didn't get in to Seattle Central Commercial Photography program...I don't really know what to do next year now. Maybe find an internship with an established commercial or sport photographer in the Portland area. Ehh bummer, I was really excited for that. So with two days left of real high school, I've started to begin studying for my finals....only two major ones but still hectic stuff. I also got a black eye last weekend in Seaside. Here's a few snaps from last weekends adventures. Got some more stuff in the works, stay tuned:)

Weekend at the lake

Spent the last weekend at the lake with my friends. Managed to get some Wake surfing photos.
All the weight on one side-

And I was standing on the bottom platform of the boat, off the back of it, like 4 inches off the water, 1 foot above the prop- Here's the only real photo I have showing where I was. I had one person holding on to my arm in attempt to prevent me from falling in...pretty risking shots but I'm happy with them:)

Baseball

Finally got around to shooting some baseball this year. Unfortunately I was forced to shoot from our teams dug out and bullpen due to OSAA rules and anti photography field (high fences:P) so I had to shoot through the fence. Still got some enjoyable results. Also bought our tickets last night for the Pbrack "JaRack Japanese Take Over Tour" For the end of June to early July, so I'm excited for that:) Ehhh I wanna get out there and take some project portraits or something fun.

Today is the hottest day of the year...and I still haven't gotten around to picking up a camera this weekend for anything other than standard product shots for Pbrack. Since Memorial Day is right around the corner, I figured I'd post some of my veteran related shots. Here's some from my trip last year to Washingotn DC that I have some what forgotten about. I rarely take photos of buildings and monuments, but I enjoyed shooting these.

At first I thought this was an out of place eyesore, upon further investigation I realized there was a message on the back. "Tom, I said when we came back to the states I'd buy you a beer"

I've always had a fascination with the military, and wars in general. Something about it has always just interested me. So for my Boy Scout Eagle Project, I interviewed 15 World War II and Korean Veterans for the Veterans History Project ( http://veteranshistoryproject.org/ ) Through doing that, I learned a wealth of knowledge from the men and women I interviewed, and also a fair amount about lighting, and filming and producing interviews. Here are some shots from my continuation of my Eagle Project, an interview I did a few months ago.
